Victor Wembanyama Cards Are Still Hot — And Some May Still Be Cheap

Victor Wembanyama continues to dominate the sports card market in 2026, and despite massive hype around his rookie cards, many collectors still believe there are buying opportunities left in the market.

The San Antonio Spurs superstar has become one of the biggest names in the hobby. High-end Wembanyama cards continue to post huge sales, with rare rookie cards and PSA graded versions selling for thousands — and in some cases hundreds of thousands — of dollars. (SI)

But while ultra-rare grails are already expensive, many collectors are focusing on more affordable PSA 10 rookie cards, Select rookies, Mosaic parallels, Donruss Rated Rookies, and lower-pop inserts that still trade at levels many believe could rise if Wembanyama develops into a long-term NBA superstar.

Some PSA 10 Wembanyama rookie cards are still available in the roughly $100–$300 range depending on the set, rarity, and parallel. (eBay)

The biggest thing driving the market right now is demand. Wembanyama cards continue seeing strong collector attention, huge grading submissions, and major social media hype. Analysts and hobby writers have noted that his card market surged significantly over the last year, with some cards seeing triple-digit percentage increases. (SI)

Still, collectors should be careful.

One major discussion in the hobby is population count. Some collectors have pointed out that there are already hundreds of thousands of graded Wembanyama cards entering the market, especially base rookies. (Reddit)

That means not every Wembanyama card will become rare or valuable long term.

Many experienced collectors are instead targeting:

  • PSA 10 low-pop parallels

  • numbered rookie cards

  • silver prizms

  • SSP inserts

  • on-card autos

  • rare Select and Optic parallels

  • early licensed rookie issues

The sports card market continues shifting toward scarcity and eye appeal rather than simply owning a base rookie card.

For collectors looking at Wembanyama today, the biggest question is simple:

Can he become one of the defining NBA players of this generation?

If the answer is yes, many current prices may still look cheap years from now.

For now, Wembanyama remains one of the hottest names in the hobby — and one of the most watched card markets in basketball.
